The Lighting of the Shadows

The Lighting of the Shadows is a planned series of novels revealing a story that lives in the Universe of Elrys. Seven forces lie at the base of the universe--forces wielded by people who do not understand what power they hold, dragging whole worlds into war and death. At the story's core is the struggle between family, power, and survival, amongst much more roiling around and within. It is one of my favorites near to our reality, and I thought a story taking place at least partially on Earth would be a good place to start in my series of longer tales.

You will be able to read the finer details for the start of the story in the page for Tunneling, once that exists; but for now, below is the premise.

Sarah has two names, each with its own life. There's the one she presents to all her friends at college--the one the government knows, the one that she cherishes. She hates the other--the one that means she can never live a normal life, the one that grants her the power to tunnel instantly from one place to another. After avoiding that hated life for the entirety of the life she loves, magic drags her back when a legendary being comes to her family asking for help, and her uncle mysteriously disappears.

On a far away planet populated by those who can manipulate gravity itself, a girl named Lontm hates the noble court she is immersed in. After the death of her mother, and the leaving of her lover, she has never felt so alone. One night, a great crash shocks her to waking, and she finds her window having been shattered, and after befriending the culprit, she discovers that it is being hunted by an unknowable group more powerful than she can imagine.

Fate takes hold of the two girls, and they cannot stop from being dragged into an interstellar war that will see civilizations evolve or fall.
